If VGC PS4 numbers at this moment in time are ~600k off from that announcement then how could you possibly argue that we have it overtracked?

To be blunt and honest, I don't trust Sony either.  They seem like the type of company that would lie.

Great argument you've got there. I was almost ready to concede.

However, it's not like Sony has any reason to lie, considering PS4 is far and away the best performing console at the moment. Why would they need to try and pad their numbers? What would they gain by making stuff up? Why would a company even do that to begin with? It's also not like Sony doesn't have access to data like GFK, NPD, etc... while VGC does not, but go ahead and believe silly stuff.

What's next, they make up stuff on their financials when they report shipments?
