Rayman legands sold 360k, do you consider that good?? Sure, it's cheaper to port a game like Rayman, but then if their engines are made like they should be, and if the PS3 and 360 are getting the games, it should not be considerably more expensive to downport. The engines should be doing it mostly automatically. Bottom line is not cost, it's opportunity loss. However, the problem is that even Just Dance is considerably dwindling on the U and Rayman, despite your ideas on its sales on the U, has sold measly. So, if you were a 3rd party boss, what would you do? Blame it on the fact that mature games are not selling on the U? What happened to ZombiU and before that during the Wii era, Red Steel? Also, go have a read of the shovel knight interview. If an indie gets it, why is Ubi so not getting it?? |
Is 360k impressive for Rayman Legends? Yeah, that's pretty good for a 2D platformer. It sold over a million in combined sales, its a hit.
Well clearly it takes more effort than you think to make a Wii U port. Otherwise the Wii U version of Watch Dogs would be here already.
If AC games were selling around 500K on Wii U, support would probably continue. But 190k for a game doing so well on other platforms is pathetic.
Bottomline, 3rd parties brought some huge IPs to Wii U and they were generally ignored.
The audience that wanted mature Wii games disappeared. CoD used to sell millions on Wii. Yet CoD:Ghosts is struggling to break 200k on Wii U. Try doing some research.
