I would say I wasn't disappointed at all. It's support sucked in 2011 and 2012, yes, but I had a great time with the console because I knew I didn't care about shovelware. I searched for games that would fill my tastes as a longtime Nintendo fan and a core gamer, and I found quite a few of those games.
Some great games on the Wii that I played a ton of:
- Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2
- Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Zelda: Skyward Sword
- Metroid Prime Trilogy
- Xenoblade Chronicles
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
- Donkey Kong Country Returns
- Resident Evil 4
- Muramasa: The Demon Blade
- Red Steel 2
- MadWorld
- No More Heroes 1 & 2
- Okami
- Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
- Sonic Colors
- Mario Kart Wii
- Super Paper Mario
- Sin and Punishment: Star Successor
- The Conduit
- Dead Space Extraction
- Excite Truck/Excitebots
I'd say having that many games that I enjoyed is more than enough for a successful console IMO. Heck, I still play quite a few these very often.
