Agreed for the most part, Nintendo needs to take a page from the Steam playbook and go nuts with the discounts. They are esentially making pure profit on digital sales so they might as well. And I can only speak for myself, but this probably applies to many, but the main reason I buy digital basically boils down to 1. convenience, and 2. cheaper price. Nintendo's eshop games tend to be the same price as the retail hard copies, so why should I spend the same amount on a digital copy of a game, that I can never sell back, when I can buy a tangible product that I CAN eventually sell back and make some of my money back on?
It's good to see they are starting to cut prices of the digital versions of some of their games, but they've got a ways to go yet. We also need to see a unified account system so you can simply buy the game once and play it on ALL future Nintendo devices. These two things would give me incentive to buy a lot more digital games from the Nintendo eshop.
