I think Nintendo will go with the unified platform, but with multiple tiers and skus.
1. The basic home console sku will be a Wii U type console, a controller with a screen/screens.
2. Deluxe Sku will still be the basic console, but will come with an actual handheld console in the same context as the Fusion Terminal and Fusion DS model.
3. The basic handheld on its own, and it will also be able to be used as a controller for any of the home consoles.
I do think there will be others as well, but the three skus above I completely expect.
