Yep, the last vestiges of denial will have to crumble at July's NPDs.

The smoke and mirrors of the past few months won't be able to be spun any more.

Bad April NPD = Quick, Announce $399 SKU 1 month ahead of time to distract!!

Bad May NPD = Buried under E3 Coverage, and excused because "everyone is waiting for the price cut"

Mediocre 2nd place June NPD = Wow! Look at that boost (only when compared to the intentionally sacrificed May NPD, lol)! Don't pay any attention to the fact that charting only showed a temporary boost, and that it was a FIVE WEEK MONTH to pad the numbers with!

Bad July NPD = Well .. wait for (insert game here) .. Yeah, that worked great with every 'wait for X' so far. Paywall removal, fire Mattrick, Titanfall, FREE Titanfall, FREE Titanfall + $50 off!, $399 DisKinect!

To be fair, the 399 boost was not that temporary. Before that the X1 was doing way below 50k. Now 7 weeks after the cut it's still above 50k.

Well not really, there was absolutely no boost compared to the baseline before the price cut announcement , so the price cut was pretty much... useless... for the moment, maybe it would have been even worse and the price cut saved it from that ?
