The money is rupees, but if you mean playing with actual rupees, as well as changing the corner squares, that goes beyond what you see in themed Monopolies. The corner squares are always kept to keep it recognizable as Monopoly, and paper money is just cheaper to make and more practical. (not to mention harder to swallow)
