Just makes the system more expensive than it needs to be. I think the dual screen setup as a whole is going out next time around anyway which makes a 3D screen problematic anyway.
Single screen. Look at the recent patent that Nintendo filed for a portable with replaceable controls -- the handheld shown is a single screen display, that's a tip off to what they're planning for next-gen IMO.
Gimme on decent quality, large touch panel display ... 1280x720 resolution, 5.8 inches or so, no 3D effect ... that's good enough and its cheaper and uses less battery.
