The problem is though Nintendo skews much more towards kids and casuals. If you give that crowd the option of having those games available to them for $1 a pop, a lot of them will just say "well I already have Mario on my iPhone, why do I need to pay $50 for a new Mario game?".

I just think it's a risk Nintendo is unwilling to take because if it didn't turn out the way you say it would, then Nintendo would've effectively devalued their 30 year old franchises to $1 a pop wonders.

yes i dont think they do at all. and thats part of the problem. If they really skewed toward kids and casuals they are doing a crappy job and they would have sold way more systems than they have now. No Ninty skews to Ninty fans. Wii U proves that. And Ninty fans are going to know the difference between some old classic mobile game and the brand new Pokemon. Even then kids arent stupid i think they understand that the games they are getting on mobile is not going to be the same on a Ninty system proper. I dont know why this is an issue. EVERY other company does not have this problem. Hell their is a few Assassin's Creed games on mobile, a COD, Infamous, Sonic, Final Fantasy, Etc. and that doesnt STOP the console games from selling. Hell you can get GTA on the phone didnt stop 5 from being the fastest selling game ever.

If they're going to do this I think they'd be just better off marching into both MS and Sony's offices and saying "we'll port some of our games to one of your platforms, but we want a big gaurunteed yearly moneyhat + support from you on our mobile platform" and watch the two proceed to do backflips for them.

The problem with kids is even kids don't want a kids skewed console. They want what their older brother/sister is playing, but that's a whole other can of worms.
