Yeah, you're ignoring a little something here: the PS2.

The Wii had sold 80% of its lifetime numbers at the end of 2010 (calendar year not fiscal) with its successor still 2 years of, the PS1 had shipped just over 70% of its lifetime numbers at the end of FY 99 when the PS2 was already out in Japan. The PS1 continued to sell 30 million more units with the PS2 already on the market, the Wii only managed to sell 20mil (not even 4mil since the launch of the Wii U) more even though the Wii U didn't come out for 2 more years.

Good job sidetracking.  So you agree that the PS1 and Wii have extremely similar sales lives?  The sales of Wii U and PS2 have nothing to do with it.  Further, as I've said in this thread, the successor to Wii from the mass-market perspective was the PS360.  Most consumers don't care about the brand.  They bought a Wii, then they bought a PS360 once they became cheaper and they had an HDTV making the systems worthwhile.  PS360 post-2010 has more practical relevance to Wii in the way that PS2 did to PS1 than Wii U ever had.

Sidetracking, yeah right...

The PS2 is extremely relevant to this, do you seriously believe that the PS1 would have dropped 50% in FY00 had the PS2 not been available? Also your "people went the Wii from to PS360" point as a reason for the Wiis drop is ridiculously weak, the Wii was always aimed at a completely different audience from the PS360.
