SEGA:s problem was packaging. They managed to make Sonic extremely attractive but most of the time, the marketing sucked from SEGA. The Saturn was a misstep in marketing, not game quality. The Panzer games, Shining games, Everything from Treasure and the fighters made the Saturn Amazing. SEGA simply stumbled when it came to actually showing people what they offered.
SEGA should have gone into business with MS. With MS´s marketing abilities and SEGA´s vision, they would have been unstoppable together.
They are to far off to ever enter the business again, which is a real shame.
