It was a more powerful console but its focus was on the new play machanics (luigi's mansion, sunshine, etc.).

@SoundofRain. Games and consoles are not different, there's no reason to differentiate them when it comes to branding, no matter what you put in OP.

That's software, not hardware and even for the software it's an extremely flimsy point, you might as well say that the N64 broke with the tradition because it focused on 3D gameplay.

No, the Playstation is not Sony Playstation like the Gamecube is Nintendo Gamecube, you don't get it. Sony does not call the Playstation "Sony Playstation", they call it just Playstation, that is its official name, that is its brand. Nintendo officially calls the Gamecube the "Nintendo Gamecube",  the "Nintendo" part is the brand name. Don't believe me? Just look at this:

Do you see this? Nintendo specifically has "Nintendo" in the name of the system. And if you think that they do this for every system then you should go back to the link I provided a couple pages ago, Nintendo doesn't call it "Nintendo Game Boy" nor do they call it "Nintendo Wii", they just call them Game Boy and Wii.
