Pretty much and famous are the three words you should focus on here. In commercial sense, what you don't know off doesn't exist.

No no no no no.

I gave you mulitple genres. I gave you an action adventure game, a real-time straegy puzzle game,  a kart racer, a first person survival game, an action hunting game and a mob-fighter adventure game.

A platformer title is something like core Mario and Donkey Kong Country, or Rayman legends and Origins. These are platformer titles all well established and extremely praise platformer titles. Platformer implies that the game has platforms that you jump to and from, to reach a goal point at the end of the level.

What I don't know? A core Mario game has been confirmed as "in development" and is still very early in the planning stages. We don't know the style it's going to be.

... I don't think you got what I meant. All those games you mentioned, Pikmin, ZombiU, MH etc. are niche, with the exception being Mario Kart. In the eye of a consumer, these doesn't exist. Why? Cause they haven't heard of them (once again, exception being MK). They have however heard of DK. Or all the freaking mario games. And sadly this is what they see. It is not diversity. This hurts Wii U sales, and in turn DK sales.

Sales of DK are also hurt by the fact that many buy Mario instead. But whatever.

I'm not dissing the Wii U though. I own one platformer on it, SM3DW, a fantastic game. I have loads more games on Wii U that aren't platformers, but I'm also fully aware that the big group of consumers, and also most gamers, don't care/know of these titles. So they don't help. Blame marketing. Blame Nintendo. Blame whatever. But that's how it is.
