When the premiership finally puts a ban on non-native players, then, only just then, England might grow to become one of the best tournament teams around. Untill then, keep enjoying the imported working class heroes on tournaments, playing for any team but the English. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see them top for once, but the amount of foreigners in your competition is holding English talent back, way back. At least your clubteams are the most supported in the world. |
I wasnt showing hopes and dreams, I was explaining what happened.
Quarter finals have been our "limit" really since 96. We always seem to fall just that little bit short, usually in penalty shootouts which mean nothing when it comes to the quality of the team in general. Losing to Portugal twice in penalties and Italy in penalties. We were more than capable of reaching semi finals or even finals in those tournaments where we lost on penalties, and in 2002 I think if we went up against any other team we would have progressed too.
While I do have high hopes for our future with our younger players coming through, Im not having high hopes to the point where I think we can win tournaments. I will be happy with Quarters as long as we give it a good go and deserve to be there.
