There were never as many multi platform games on consoles before the 6th gen. Just saying...

That's because Sega, Atari, Nintendo, and who ever else was making consoles before Sony where Game Developers, so they were competiting against the multiplatforms as well. 3rd parties took a back seat regardless of where they were.
