You don't have to - you have plenty of other games to choose from, including Hyrule Warriors, Smash Bros, Bayonetta, Sonic Boom, and Watch Dogs, to name some of the most notable titles. But not all games appeal to all people, and CT:TT provides something for people who were fans of the special levels in 3D World. Since it mostly just required some extra modelling and coding that would probably be usable in a new 3D Mario anyway, and this game was probably something the 3D World guys worked on rather than the Galaxy guys, it seems like a smart use of resources to add an extra title to the 2014 lineup without sacrificing anything for 2015.
