Nintendo are making the EXACT game they were asked for and threw in some stuff to spice it up (which looks like another game we've also begged for, Pokemon Snap).
I say let em do it. As long as there are enough levels and a proper difficulty curve who cares if Nintendo use a level system rather than a continuous world.
