Captain Toad might be a fun game, but Nintendo could do so much more with it in my opinion. They could really expand the idea into a full on adventure, treasure hunting game rather than a set of mini-games that appears more appropriate to Mario Party or Nintendoland. What I have in mind is something like a mixture of Uncharted and PC adventure games. I don't want it to be a cinematic action game like Uncharted but there would be action sequences like the ones they showed for the game, but there would also be puzzle solving and using items to advance like in something like The Longest Journey or Riven. It wouldn't be as extreme as those two either where in The Longest Journey some of the item based puzzles were extremely obscure and in Riven where the puzzles are just really difficult at times. What I am saying, though, is that Nintendo should expand the scope of the game and the mechanics of the game into a real adventure game. To me, it really shows off Nintendo's mini-game mindset in regards to some of their games.

I remember playing this Indiana Jones game as a kid, if you skip to about 9 minutes in you can see the kind of thing I'm talking about. Obviously, the interface and all that would be radically different for a Nintendo game, but I think using the diary, finding clues, and using items in the environment as well as the action parts like in the actual game could all combine into a really compelling adventure game from Nintendo.
