Well, considering that Retro also worked on MK7 and Donkey Kong, this wouldn't be too surprising. I really hope their involvement is minor. Monster working on this title bothers me a little, too. We already have Mario Kart...give me Excite Truck WiiU, please. Or better yet, give me ExciteBots WiiU. Excite Bots is a quality racer full of zany gags and a feeling of speed and vertigo that few racing games have ever gotten close to achieving.

I really hope that Nintendo has just invested so much in Retro Studios (as they should) that they can now work on two AAA games simultaneously. Building that studio up would only benefit the Mario House, especially considering Nintendo is having a hard time filling the hole left by the lack of 3rd party support.
