The only solution, Nintendo BECOMES third party.

Nintendo is likely to be the only console maker in the not too distant future. By the end of this generation I could easily see Sony and Microsoft phasing consoles out for PC endeavors. PC gaming is becoming more and more common and with better online structures, better graphics, and more longevity, eventually people will see consoles just can't compete in power or convenience. At least nintendo has unique hardware and high powered franchises that are guaranteed to be exclusively theirs for as long as they wish to be in the console market.

"Unique" is a vague word. It is neither positive or negative, thus it doesn't really sound like an accolade. MS has Halo, Sony has uncharted, franchises just as monstrous in sales. They may not be as legendary as Nintendo's but those nintendo franchises will do little in the long run if the hardware isn't selling or you expect 85%+ attachement rate to all their AAAs. This is, of course, assuming that the Xbone and PS4 can sell about double what the Wii U does, which doesn't seem likely.

I have not noticed the rise of PC gaming in the last years to be honest.
