I think Devil's Third should stick with UE3. If you change the engine of your game just to prove that you can you'll have a Daikatana or a DUke Nukem Forever.

Is the transition that rough though? In January, Itagaki said the game was 80% complete -- so it's likely done now. However, Nintendo doesn't seem to intend to release it until 2015. Either way, the game could use some graphics polish and seems to have the time to do it. I would think transitioning from UE3 to UE4 might be a straightforward way of doing that.

But the thing is they don't know if the game is going to sell well. Why waste time and money changing the engine when the possible customers maybe aren't going to be interested in the product to begin with? If the game succeeds then they can try it, but right now better aim low.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
