Sony Console: Just started but the ps3 had only 2. PS4 has FFXV which should be a million seller, so it'll at least have 1, with a chance of RE7 /FFXVI /KH3 doing a million. Also DQXI seems like a given if the rumors are true for it to come to ps4. Nintendo Console: Lots of million sellers were from the wii series and the huge decline that is WiiU doesn't help. Its got 1million seller and it has a chance to have a total of 3-5 maybe this generation (Mario Kart+WiiPartyU+SSB) Sony Handheld: Though PSP had 4 million sellers, they were all from the same Franchise... Monster Hunter, and had 2-3 games close to it. Vita's best game sits around the 420k-450k mark (God Eater 2). Can Vita have a million seller this generation? Maybe with a True Monster Hunter but who knows if Capcom will let up.... Nintendo Handheld: Where most of all the million sellers will be coming from in the current gen. There are 12 now, with at least 4 more coming to this year alone!
So the gen is at a decline in million selllers as well :'-( |
But thats not the whole picture. You dont need that many million selling games in Japan, when you have DD, freemium and DLC models. Also budget seems to stay in-line with previous generation, while in the west development budgets tend to grow by a lot.
