Linearity is merely a measure of how the game is designed, it has less bearing on the actual parts of the game that are technically demanding then design itself. A "Linear game" and an "Open World game" will have the exact same technical demands if designed identically.
Hell, rendering a single portion of an open world game is exactly the same demand as rendering the changing scene of moving through that world.
