Video game message boards are the worst place to gage mainstream opinion. Why? Because we're all nerds. Nerds will vote for cartoon graphics. But nerds make up about 10% of the console industry. The rest are dude bros and in betweens and those types want realistic graphics and mature games.
You are compeltely right. If Nintendo made Zelda like a 3rd person Skyrim, voice overs and full production values, it would be a SMASH hit commercially. But unfortunately, Nintendo are too conservative. This game will probably sell like SS, if it's lucky. And that's not to say it won't be a great game. I'm sure it will. But the WW is proof enough that cartoon graphics=fail.
