It's just hard to express how you feel about a game in words so he has to choose words that have more impact on paper!  I think he was pretty damn serious about it. The seriousness is indicated by giving it 9 in "lasting appeal".

 This thread is dedicated to talk about the review alone, you can't possibly expect people to NOT judge the review in any questioning way.
