according to official shipments, PS3 surpassed Xbox 360 back in December 2012. Factor in how padded the 360s numbers are due to multiple purchases via RROD, and the PS3 surpassed it way before that. Not "officially", because only shipments and sold-through numbers matter to investors, but unofficially in the sense that more people own PS3s worldwide than 360s

Rrod units can't count as sold. That is lying to the shareholders... Which you just can't do.

If I buy an Xbox, that counts as a sale. If the Xbox breaks a year later and I go buy another one to replace it, that counts as another sale. It doesn't retroactively revoke the previous sales. 2 units that MS shipped out were bought. It doesn't matter to them if 2 people bought one a piece or 1 person bought 2. It's still 2 units sold.

So 360 was so awesome people bought it multiple times over a fully functioning PS3. Thanks for strengthing Xbox's sales milestones :)

That's dumb and you know it. Nobody owns a collection of games, then completely disregards them if their system breaks i.e. 360 breaks, therefore buy a PS3. Because a PS3 could totally play all your 360 games. When my PS3 phat broke, I could have easily switched to 360. But then I'd have to buy my games over again and I wouldn't have my saves. It's illogical.
"Oh, so you bought another PS3. So its userbase is padded too then". Difference being, 360s were breaking left and right. PS3s...almost not at all.
Nice spin, though
