As I've shown, the real exceptions are the N64 and the cube, they failed to sell because they were largely overshadowed in visibility by their nearest competition, the Playstation.

Nintendo now has more visibility and the PS and XB are now stuck in a corner to sell games to one audience, mostly dudebro and adult males. Nintendo is very well capable of selling hardware in this environment.

It's clear to me.

This "corner" they are stuck in is the absolute majority of the audience that games on consoles...

So what happened to the 150m people that bought the PS2 when it catered to a very different audience with games like Parappa the Rappa, Coolboarders, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet and Clank.

No, it is not the absolute majority of the audience that games on consoles. Sure games for that audience are selling well now, but the sales in that market are also stagnating now, Watch Dogs being the exception because gamers were starved.

You might want to take a look at the best selling PS2 games and realize that almost all the top selling franchises from back then were still present and very big on PS3 and will also still be present on PS4, the majority of the PS2 audience was the same as the PS3/360 and will be the same on the PS4 and it's is absolutely the audience you want to have as game console manufacturer, get those people on board and think about the smaller groups later.

And sales in that market are really not stagnating at all
