Nintendo has to focus on profits, not on winning, and has to do it by themselves as the third party boat sailed a long time ago.
They have to find a way to create a symbiotic ecosystem for their portable and home console that benefits the users of both one of the systems or both. One way is creating them with the same architecture so games can be developed for both devices at the same time (but different graphical settings, ofc), with 1 unified account system that allows digital games (eShop, VC) bought on the home console to be played on the handheld and viceversa whenever horsepower or the use of special features aren't in the way and/or even allowing the handheld to be used as a gamepad for the homeconsole.
Invest in creating more studios as well as making their existing ones bigger. Since they can't count on 3rd parties, they will need to create more games to avoid large droughts of games. Also, they should continue to pursue their partnership with other studios (Platinum, Namco, SEGA, etc) to develop more exclusive games. Trying to include some western studios to that plan wouldn't be a bad idea (am I the only one thinking that Insomniac would be a good studio to try that for Nintendo?).
Finally, avoid selling its products at a loss while maintaining a low price model. Nintendo won't need PS5/X2 levels of power for their next home console (although it would be nice), but WiiU level for the handheld and PS4/X1 level for the home console will be doable for 180/250 Euro/USD with a profit by the time they are launched.
Please excuse my bad English.
