1) Drop the "Wii" name.  Wii U was confusing for non gamers and as a result prople think it's an addon for Wii. 

2) No more droughts!  Every Nintendo console since SNES seems to have long periods with no good releases of note. Rare at least helped on N64.

3) System should be comparably powerful vs the competition for ports. 

4) Pick an audience and cater to them. Right now they say they cater to the hardcore crowd more but release games with a vibrant colorful style which, while it looks great, isn't what your average " hardcore" gamer is looking for.  Even the kids aren't interested in the Wii U apparently; it just caters more to longtime Nintendo fans.
