I think you're being far too self-conscious. I'm only 25, but I still love Nintendo. Maybe not like I used too (I don't find Kirby that interesting anymore), but Zelda, XenoBlade, Mario Kart and Smash Bros all look great. I'm not ashamed to be playing Bravely Default on the subway (but I do try to bring a book around as often as possible).
As for violent video games, do games need to be violent to be good for adults? I bought my PSP (A very adult gaming system) for Gran Turismo and when I don't play GT I play 90's JRPG remakes. Nothing wrong with some GoW every now and then, but nothing wrong with Zelda either.
It's all about perception, if you play Yoshi's Island and feel uncomfortable, then you are weird. If you play Yoshi's Island and feel like the game is amazing, then there is nothing wrong. I see girls 30+ play Mario now and then, why can't you?
