There are people who say that desperate Nintendo is the best Nintendo, but desperate Nintendo actually puts out games that clearly should have been delayed. The GC was in trouble (just like the N64 before), so Nintendo cut corners to spur sales quicker (just like with Mario Kart 64 and Yoshi's Story).

The Gamecube as a whole disproves the "desperate Nintendo is the best Nintendo" idiom.

They produced much better games when they were kicking arse with the Wii.
