I understand complaints about getting the coin item three times in a row and being without defense for a lap or more, but that rarely happens. Mario Kart Wii had the fake item box which is worse than the coin; both items make you defenseless, but the coin at least increases your top speed (unless you already have ten). The coin really isn't bad, because second and third place don't get many red shells. The three star ranking only meant something in Super Circuit and Mario Kart Wii, because in Double Dash!!, DS and 7 it wasn't much of a challenge. The VR scores don't bother me. The score never said anything about how you earned it. I've come across plenty of people with high scores who would get out of my group after two or three races, because they couldn't increase their score. |
As much as I respect you opinion on the Mario Kart series I am going to have to disagree with you. I seem to constantly get the coin when I'm in first. Yesterday I had a race where I got off to a huge lead early. I kept getting the coin and was hit by a red shell. This narrowed the gap. The second lap I had the good fortune of getting a banana peel and widened my lead again until somebody spamed three red shells at me. No biggie. I'm used to that stuff. The third lap I once again get only coins and build my lead back up until about a quarter of the track is left. Then I get nailed by a blue shell, then two red shells, and then a green shell. 6th place. What's cool about that? Also, those in second and third seem to get red and green shells often. At least agianst me it seems.
