You get maybe 500k buying the game (and potentially the system) because of how much they liked Bayonetta, and then you get 1 million people curious about the game and picking it up based on news/reviews/word of mouth. I'm not saying this is what will happen, but that it's logic by which Nintendo might choose to publish it that doesn't depend on it selling exclusively to fans of the first game.


I just struggle to understand how anyone can honestly believe that a console that is destined to have an optimistic 20m installed base and a pour track record for games like Bayonetta selling well would have any chance of Bayonetta 2 reaching anywhere near 1m sales when the original barely sold more than 2m on a combined installed base of over 160m who are statistically more likely to purchase a game like that.

Bayonetta 2 is one of my most anticipated Wii U games of the year, not that that's saying much, but that doesn't mean that I'm naive enough to think that everyone will do the same.
