Starfox U was teased this E3. Normally, this would have me over the moon. I love SF64, and I have always wanted Nintendo to make another game in the series that wasn't complete shite like Starfox Command, Assault, Adventures, etc. I know what was shown was a SUPER early prototype, but the control scheme just doesn't interest me at all, and in fact, it really turns me off.
Basically, you control your plane with both analog sticks, and aim by using the gamepad as a looking glass of sorts. Seems kinda interesting for a tech demo, but I do not want it at all for a new starfox game. This control scheme means you won't really be looking at beautiful HD stages on the TV, and you will have to use a motion scheme that seems awfully gimmicky and unnessesary. Plus, based on the impressions I read, there is a lot of switching between looking at the Gamepad and the TV, which is quite uncomfortable in my opinion, and doesn't seem to suit the fast twitchy gameplay of classic star fox stages.
Definitely not trying to be negative with this post, I'm excited at the mere prospect of a new starfox game. Nintendo had a great e3, and I can't wait for more info. Just can't help but wonder if the control scheme there going with is the right one.
