It's not an official price drop, but a retailer's price drop, usually to entice folks into the store/site and get them to buy other stuff.

Yes, I meant just price drops in general and not only official ones. I don't see why they would do that when the game is already selling fine.

It's a loss leader, i.e. you hope to bring 'em in and make money selling them other stuff
