The only hope the Wii U has in Japan really now is that the amiibo toys + Smash take off like crazy there with kids.
Remember Skylanders hasn't really gone anywhere there, so there could be a bigger opening for Nintendo to do some damage with that idea there.
And yes Japan got a PS4 FIFA bundle just ahead of the World Cup opening that's why it got a bump this week:
