I'll be straight up in saying I think the new Wii U Zelda looks pretty terrific, especially the animation. And there is Hyrule Warriors too that has a more realistic style. And it's not like Link looks like a 6 year old like he did in Wind Waker. It looks like a Miyazaki film with adult/teen characters, not a Nickledeon cartoon. That said I did *slightly* prefer the look of the original E3 demo.
Lets be honest too, if Mario Kart 8 doesn't "save" the system, then there's nothing for Zelda to "save" anyway being a November 2015 release. So I mean if EAD wants this style maybe they should just have at it.
So maybe it is for the best to save the "realistic" looking Zelda for the next Nintendo hardware. I personally don't think the next Nintendo console will be a huge leap over the Wii U (but more of a fusion platform that allows for the same games to be played on the road and at home), but it could still allow for 1080p visuals with more RAM than the Wii U currently has, so that wouldn't be a bad bump.
