Unless the 3rd party make their slate of games a priority or even just availability on Nintendo console, all the rest of what Nintendo does or doesn't do for home console is irrelevant.
Honestly, if the 3rd party were on board, Nintendo did everything right, and if not, then everything wrong. So what discourages the 3rd party on Nintendo system?
Lack of meaningful online features. Weaker hardware than other next-gen. Different architecture than the x86 architecture adopted by the others. Released poorly with barely working OS (slow and unstable that took more than year post-launch to patch into acceptable norms). Poor sales adoption by any core gamers or casual gamers.
