Apparently you sincerely believe that the Wii U followed the same strategy as the Wii.

It's definitely not following the same strategy as the GCN.

But it is.

1. Direct competition with Sony and Microsoft.
2. Hardware sold at a loss as a result.
3. Talking about how they want to win over the hardcore gamer.
4. Gimmick as a unique selling point to differentiate itself from the competition. The Gamepad is the GC-GBA connectivity integrated into the main controller. The Gamepad also falls into the same category as the Xbox One's Kinect and the PS4's touch pad on the DualShock 4. All systems were intended to have all the same games with only a few minor features setting them apart.

The Wii U is a repackaged GC that tried to fix the perceived problems of the GC.

1. Late launch. The Wii U launched before the competition.
2. Lack of a strong brand. The Wii brand was slapped on a console that hardly resembles what Wii was about.

There were some minor adjustments made to the strategy, but at the core it's the same.

Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Party were on the GameCube?

The Wii U now has equivalents/sequels to like 80% of the top selling Wii titles available for it

Wii Sports (Wii Sports Club)

Wii Fit (Wii Fit U)

Mario Kart Wii (Mario Kart 8)

New Super Mario Bros. U (NSMBU)

Super Mario Galaxy (Mario 3D World)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (not out yet)

Wii Party (Wii Party U)

Mario Party 8 (not out yet)

Mario & Sonic Olympics (Mario & Sonic Sochi)

Donkey Kong Country Returns (DKC Tropical Freeze)

It's branded as the WII U, it looks like the Wii, in Japan it comes bundled with the Wiimote and Wii Sports and that still hasn't bumped sales at all. Wii U has the same design philosophy as the Wii -- emphasis on small, non threatening console (check), minimal storage space, hardware that's basically 1 generation behind the current generation (check).

Sorry but you're in massive, massive denial.
