Notes:

  • This week, Infamous: Second Son went up two places, from #14 to #12 worldwide, thanks to its good legs (nearly 60,000 copies this week!). It will take a while for it to reach the Top 10 though, even if Watch Dogs and Mario Kart disappoint; New Super Luigi U is over 200,000 ahead and is selling around 15,000 a week before the expected Wii U boost from Mario Kart. Also, Just Dance 2014 outsold ZombiU this week, and Skylanders fell to an untied last place.
  • Wolfenstein: The New Order fell just about 30,000 copies short of making the Top 30 worldwide. I had to double-check to make sure it didn't reach the Top 30. However, assuming it has a second week that isn't catastrophically bad, it will get into the Top 30 next week, along with Watch Dogs and Mario Kart 8. This will knock Skylanders, Tomb Raider, and Tropical Freeze off of the list. Nintendo probably won't mind swapping out Donkey Kong for Mario Kart, but Activision and Square Enix will lose relative ground to Bethesda and Ubisoft next week.
  • Although EA is still gaining on Nintendo, their recent gains are likely to be neutralized by MK8, especially since Nintendo is not far behind, even selling on just one platform. Perhaps EA would be in a better position if it sold its games on the Wii U also; even Activision has sold almost 10% of it's games in the Top 30 on the Wii U, so perhaps Wii U ports of games like Madden, FIFA, etc could have sold at least half a million. Too late now though.
  • Next week is going to be BIG. Wolfenstein will come through the bottom easily, Watch Dogs can end up in the Top 10, and even Mario Kart 8 can appear in the middle of the list immediately.
  • However, afterwards we will have a few quieter weeks, as June brings few big games. Maybe UFC or Transformers will be big, but even those are latter in the month.
  • Note how I threw in Japan's Top 10 this week. It's probably not going to be a permanent part of this feature yet (only about 5 games have notable amounts much so far), but I'm including it here for comparisons to Mario Kart 8. Here's hoping it reaches Knack-like levels week one at very least.
