To be honest after an initial burst of playtime when I bought it I did leave it unused for a while. I could have probably bought it one year later and I wouldn't have missed much (about 30 hours play time in the first year of ownership, honestly).
But then I bought Zelda U and 3D World last Christmas, which were a good blast, and now Mario Kart 8 already has 14 hours play time on my console in less than a week, and I can see myself returning to my old games soon too. So it had a slow start for me, but it's really starting to pay dividends now.
For the record, my PS4 is going through a similar cycle. Haven't played it in months. But The Last Of Us HD and Uncharted 4 will change that when they drop.
