Or, you know, there were just 187k MK fans in the world who haven't bought a Wii U yet and after that it will plummit again.

MK's system seller status does not prove that any other game on WiiU will do the same.

Yes, it does. Mario Kart 8 is the first major game on the system that people have actually been asking for, and it sold accordingly. No one saw the Wii U in 2011 and thought "I can't wait to play DKC, SM3DL HD, Pikmin 3, and a remake of Wind Waker on it." They thought, "I can't wait for the new Mario Kart, Smash, Zelda, 3D Mario, Metroid, Star Fox, and Pokemon on it." Software sells hardware, but up until now Nintendo hadn't put up any hardware-selling software.

Poeple said the same about DK and SM3DW. Both games that are sequels to extremely popular(at least from a sales perspective) games. They both failed to move a significant amount of consoles. Now Mario Kart comes along and is a big hit. Looks like people are very quick to point out that those other games weren't really system sellers even though they were hailed as such.

I predict that neither Smash nor Zelda will come close to MK8 sales. Bayonetta and X will be even lower. Metroid and Starfox are only big on the Internet.

MK8's sales are the result of great pedigree, widespread appeal to all demographics and competent marketing. I'd like to see someone repeat that holy trinity.
