No offense but VGChartz almost always overtracks the Wii U hardware by at least 20-25% any time there is a big software release, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case here.
I thought it was pretty curious that Nintendo released PR touting 1.2+ million Mario Kart 8 software sales but didn't utter a peep about the hardware bundle sales for North America or Europe. If they can track MK8 sales like that they should also have the hardware number to go with it so they chose not to talk about the hardware bundle which perhaps says something.
Purely anecdotal but the big Best Buy in my area hasn't sold even one of the MK8 hardware bundles yet.
