Well we're just commenting on the Wii U itself. There's plenty of reasons why it would be replaced sooner, even if it's good enough.
The disappointing sales - affect Nintendo even it doesn't affect you.
The past life of Nintendo consoles is reason to see they discontinue consoles sooner than 8~10 years. It's not in their control, once a console stops selling much then it's discontinued.
N64 was discontinued after ~6 years.
GC was discontinued after ~6 years.
Wii was discontinued after ~7 years.
Also who said that MK8 won't boost sales? That's just not the only factor.
