Advantages microsoft had this gen that made it turn the hardcore against playstation:
Released an entire year earlier
Stole most of the playstation's exclusive 3rd party franchises
Halo became the best shooter on the Xbox leading for shooting fans to hop on the 360 bandwagon
The 360 is significantly more cheaper than the PS3
Here's the main one, PR nearly destroyed the PS3.
