I've only tried battle mode once so far and with the tracks the way they are I drove round and only found person to actually battle in the whole game. I'd say that's a problem.

No, it was a full 12 person game. Just everyone on the other team died before I met them

I actually tried playing with teams, but only with the computer and it wasn't fun. It's better to play solo.
