Xbox exclusives sold more last gen because Microsoft split the multiplatform following fanbase Sony had expanded off of the back of Nintendo in the 80's and early 90's. Microsoft didnt expand the audience but they kind of just took them and were amazed by the sales that Sony once enjoyed and now had themselves.
As for the reason why Insomniac left for MS. Sunset Overdrive is basically the game Insomniac had dreamed of making in their twenty years of working with Sony, but for once they wanted the IP and Sony wanted it. They couldnt agree so MS scooped them up. MS likes Sony devs or anyone affiliated with Sony.

This is false and I don't know where people get this from.Besides Halo and Gears nothing sold much. Forza and Fable were the onky other franchises to go plat.Every PS exclusive minus a few sold over 1million copies. Games like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Viva Pinata, Crack Down, Banjo, Perfect Dark, Kameo Knights and Alan Wake sold pporly compared to Sony's games. Mostly shooters old on the Xbox and Forza or Fable do not make the top 10.

Let me see this top ten of which you speak. I take it you havent seen Microsofts million sellers list on this site. Microsoft sold more at times when you talk about comparable mulitplats, especially when you're talking about COD and other games. A lot of early adopters of the 360 owned PS2's.
