They werent, but they stayed exclusive to Sony so everyone associated games like MGS, Devil May Cry and Tekken with Sony. Sony helped publish Tekken on the Playstation. Those brands could've gone to alternative companies but they didnt. Their business was stable exclusively on Sony consoles. This is why at E3 2008 MS took so much pride in welcoming third party exclusives on Sony to MS. Thats MS whole reason for being in the industry to begin with. To throw off Sony since Sony didnt want to work with them.
