Well, as a film I definitely put it above Iron Man 3. It is block buste rin nature, but also has a dense plot that asks viewers to remember previous films a great deal. I could see someone walking out confused if they never saw any of the other ones. Comparing it to Iron Man 1 is hard because this is a big vast cast while Iron Man exceeded at tight narrative structure of Tony Stark (the villains were forgettable to me across all of Iron Man). Iron Man 1 is definitely more non fan friendly in that respect.
Over all I would say if you enjoyed X1, X2 and/or X:FC then X:DoFP is at the same level which is commendable given how many moving parts it had.
