I'm not a big fan of digital foundry, but they found some things about this game and reported them. No big deal. The wiiu is underpowered, but can paint a pretty picture none the less. The ps360 can paint nice pictures too, and those saying the wiiu isn't a big enough jump from the ps360, well, neither are the ps4/x1. Can they do more? Sure. But they aren't out of this world better. They're doing the same shit as before. The games haven't changed. There's not one game on the ps4/x1 that couldn't be done on the ps360 or the wiiu. Now, I'm sure some will stop reading there and come off with some half assed response about how "it would take heavy graphical downgrades".... Yes, they would. But the fundamental game would still exist in it's intended form. Second son couldn't be done on the ps360, you say? Sure it could. A downgrade in graphics doesn't change the game, only it's appearance, slightly. Just look at TLOU, it looks good on ps3, better on ps4, but it's the same game, only a bit nicer looking. I've played games on the new gen, last gen, and wiiu. The only place to get cutting edge is on pc. End of story. Some guys are saying the wiiu is weak compared to the ps4, well the os4 isn't all that impressive either. It just came out, and struggles to run games at 1080p, like watch dogs. It's running on the ps360, so if it can run on those, why isn't the ps4 version at 1080p? Don't use the excuse of it wasn't made for the ps4, because I've seen plenty of people say the wiiu versions of multiplat games are worse than the ps360 because the wiiu is weak. Well, the same applies to the ps4/x1 too. But but! Second son is 1080p, and looks better than watch dogs... You don't say? Well, need for speed on the u also looks better and is higher res than the ps360 versions, but that never matters. There was a thread about hypocritical Nintendo fans, well, fans of other systems operate in a hive mind and are also hypocrites. The same guys from the other threads came into this one, saying the exact same things. We got it in the other threads, guys. We got the message then. This thread is about the positive things in the DF article, not about the topics in the others. So, if you want power, go invest in a pc, because you guys aren't getting it with any console, no matter how hard you wish for it. |
So the entire point of this post was to attack people for having standards for the "next gen" console they just invested their money in?
Yes, consoles aren't super computers, but they cost people money. Not everyone can afford to spend $1000+ to build a gaming computer, to many just the $400 for a PS4 is a major investment, let alone the $60 per new game. Should those people not have any expectations because they can't afford the alternative?
People care about graphics. It's simple as that. It's the primary driving for the core gaming industry, it's why are in the 8th gen not the 1st. Standard gameplay wise we peaked off during the PS2 era, outside of new peripherals there is nothing , on a fundamental level, you could do on the 7th or 8th gen consoles that the ps2 couldn't.
When something looks good, people praise it and are exited. To those who only game on console something like inFamous or Ryse was a huge step up from their previous experience, and that's an incredibly early gen title.
On the other side, if MK8 is revealed to be 720p no AA, or WD is revealed to be 792p/900p, or when people see DC still hasn't properly fixed it's AA yet, people complain. People have a right to complain. They have standards created by the cost of investment and the products they have already experience. If Nintendo fans want to have a hundred post thread talking about how great it is that MK8 is 1080p, prepare for another thread if it isn't. If Sony fans boast that WD will be 1080p/60fps on the PS4 (though looking at the thread 95% of people thought it was BS), then prepare for another one when it turns out not to be.
There is no bias here, just a lot of people bitching at each other. If you don't want to talk about the technical side of games, if you couldn't care less what the resolution or frame rate is, then why are you posting in a thread for which the entire purpose is to talk about those specific things?
